Ongoing Support Package
Once your sails are fitted and the first few passages are behind you, the questions start to shift. Reefing lines that need a different lead, a luff that could sit a little tighter, UV cover stitching that deserves a second look before the next monsoon. The Ongoing Support Package is built for that phase of ownership.
It is not a one-time inspection. It is a standing arrangement with the same rigger who fitted your sails, so the person checking your boat already knows your mast height, your boom length, and the way you actually sail. That continuity matters more than any generic checklist.
What the package covers on a typical visit:
- Seasonal inspection of stitching, batten pockets, and reefing points on mainsail and genoa
- Adjustment of halyard tension and furling line leads for smoother handling
- Lubrication and corrosion check on track systems, blocks, and shackles
- Small repairs on site, such as re-stitching a seam or replacing a worn clew patch
- A written summary of what was checked and what can wait until next season
Most visits are scheduled around the change of the northeast monsoon, when boats in Sandakan get the most use and the most wear. If you are based further up the coast toward Kudat or across in the Andaman, the same rigger can plan a stop on a longer passage.
The point is simple: you get a second pair of eyes that knows your boat, and you avoid the small problems that turn into bigger ones mid-cruise. No subscription lock-in, no pressure to buy new gear. Just a scheduled check that keeps your existing sails working as they should.
If you already have sails from Gioia Sails North, this package is the natural next step. If you are still deciding, it also works as a one-off pre-passage check before a longer trip.
